It's based on academic scoring, if you do like outside actives to benefit yourself in the field (community service at hospital, attending medical events/lectures/etc.), mainly. There is only so many spots, and they choose it based off that. Like, you need to get 30 points at least to be considered.
That sounds really tough, but it sounds like you're really working for it. I know at 20 I would never have the drive for something like that.
My school came to my high school advertising(it's a for-profit university) and anyone with a GPA of above -2 can get in, assuming you can pay. You just have to write a paragraph about why you want in, which they probably don't read, and pay the money you owe each semester and you're golden.
