you are fucking pathetic like the rest of you who thinks it's 9, clearly fails at math in school as well, why don't u just ask ur math teacher

2(1+2) = 6

that's the only thing you need to know to solve this problem

6/2(3)

3(3)

(9)

Parentheses first

then PEMDAS

Divis and multiplication occur in left to right order.

thus

6/2 comes first before multipyling vs the 3

So you're saying the order of operations is wrong if you think this.

No, it wouldn't. The way the equation is written is completely irrelevant. 6/2 and 6 divided by 2 are the same exact thing.

This discussion has reached an all time low, I can't believe I have to post this.

PEMDAS is not Division before Multiplication. I was not taught Division then Multiplication.

Look, I don't know your bedmas and whatever it is you're talking about. We don't use that here. But when you have a fraction, it's top divided by bottom, I'm sure we can both agree on that. And in that case, the answer is 1 and not 9.

It's not a fraction, though. You solve by:

Evaluating the parentheses: (1+2) = 3
Then by doing multiplication and/or division in a linear matter: 6/2*3 = 9.

You don't turn the entire equation into 6/(2*(1+2)), because that's a different equation. The ÷ doesn't denote it being a fraction, it simply means divide. A fraction, written out, is in this format:

(x+y)
-------
(a+b)

The 6÷2 itself is entirely separate from the (1+2).

PEMDAS is:

Solve the parentheses first
Solve for parts with exponents
Then do division or multiplication(Whichever comes first in the equation)
Then do addiction or subtraction(Whichever comes first in the equation)

PEMDAS is outwardly retarded because it does seem like it's saying to first do the division, then multiplication.
