After the unification of China Kublai created canals, trade networks, paper money a new language and a whole host of other things that brought not only prosperity to the east but easy access for the west fuelling the rise of trading companies and an economic boom followed by a cultural revolution. Without the yuan dynasty the world would look very different.

The Mongol Empire was arguably the largest in history. You don't get that big and not have a profound effect on the world.
