I bought a Glock 43 last month for a future CCW gun and potential backup gun when/if I become a LEO.

It only carries 6+1 but I love it. It does kicks with shooting a 9mm round in such a little gun though.

I spent probably 3 months researching and looking at different handguns.

What it came down to was a number of things.
- Glock is a reliable/reputable source with fewer moving parts and fewer things to replace if things went bad
- My coworker had a used one so I test fired it and got a good deal
-trigger safety only (don't want to fumble with a safety in high stress situations where muscle memory is impacted)
- similar design to full size duty gun that I intend to carry
-good price
- RELIABILITY

Honestly though, when researching, I came to the conclusion there's a lot of nice guns. If you want to CCW get a slim and comfortable gun. I recommend M&P Shield, Springfield XDS, Glock 43, Sig P938 (has manual safety but gun is sweet, its like a mini 1911), Ruger LC9 (apparently it's not fun to shoot though) and there's more I can't think of right now.

I wouldnt mind having a good ol' snubby 6 shooter for CCW either.

Really I was skeptical if 6+1 was enough ammo but i look at it like this.
Self defense shootings are basically going to occur within 20 feet, even 20 feet sounds probably too far.
Most people don't have tons of people who are looking to kill them (I work at a jail so this may be an exception) and if you run into a situation with multiple attackers, you should always be running (if possible) and calling the authorities.

- also I'm by no means a gun expert, in fact I really don't have all that much experience, these are just things I've thought of and looked into
Whatever you get, if you plan on carrying it, just make sure to put in the range time.

What about a taser gun?

What's wrong with using the gun for sport. and using the taser for self defense.

Taser would be good if they're wearing normal clothes (t-shirt) but in winter months with heavy duty clothing it would be significantly impaired.
I really don't know much about the models available for civilians, only the ones that shoot probes would be worth having though. I've heard they're only good for one shot then the entire device is basically forever worthless (non-replaceable cartridge). It's basically just to shoot someone with and run.

Hell, even pepper spray would be good. You might get shit for being a man carrying it but it would be helpful. Especially against dogs.

You don't brandish a firearm unless you plan to use it, that's gun 101. If you want to scare people off buy some pepper spray or a chainsaw

I do own a remington 870 express 12 ga and a 30-06 bolt (can't remeber brand and model lol).

I do not plan to own a handgun because here in Quebec there is a complete stupids shittons of paperwork and steps to take to have a handgun and even more shits to follow when you have one, not including the "YOU ARE A TERRIBLE CRIMINAL" if you ever get caught with it outside of you permit hours or location.

Anyway I mostly only hunt and skeet with my guns.
