Well, with the development of more devices being found, it was apparently not a gasline explosion.

The average grenade nowadays can be fit in a little smaller than one of those red Solo cups and create explosions similar in size to that.

You are right that a gasline explosion may be the cause, however (ignoring the reports of additional devices being found, for the sake of my point let's pretend there were none), bombs the size of a couple fists aren't too hard to keep unnoticed and produce explosions that size.

From my time in the National Guard, we've had the chance to throw a couple sappers here and there. They're no bigger than a fist and can blow a car pretty easily. My point is that many high powered explosives are a lot smaller than people think they are.
