1. You will need to fast from 5:30 AM (5 hrs prior to appointment ).
This means nothing to eat or drink EXCEPT water (this is VERY important!).
Please drink as much plain water as you like!
2. Please take any medication you would normally take, with water only.
3. Bring with you a written list of your current medications, and your GP's name, address & Ph No.
4. Bring any relevant x-rays, MRI or CT scans that you have with you.
5. You will be in the Department for approx. 2-3 hours from start to finish. For a more exact finish time, please
ask reception staff on the day of your scan.
6. Please bring your Medicare or Veterans’ Affairs card.
7. Scan requires removal of all metal (e.g. rings, watches, zippers, etc.). Wear warm comfortable
clothes without metal (if possible), otherwise hospital gowns will be provided for you.
8. Please leave all valuables at home where possible, lockers will be provided.
Are you claustrophobic or diabetic? If yes, please inform staff when confirming your appointment.
Do you have a satisfactory level of spoken & written English? If not please call us prior to appointment.
As a precautionary measure, we advise against you being accompanied by a friend/relative who is, or may be
pregnant, or have any young children with them on the day.
Prior to your appointment, please read the attached information sheet, it provides a detailed outline of what will
happen during your PET-CT Scan.
