First you are measured for height and weight, if you are not overweight for your height then you are not taped. If you are overweight they tape your neck and weight. There is a calculator at www.550cord.com that you can check out for yourself.

Obese = weight to hight ratio pretty sure, i know body builders who are classed as obese.
