so you mean our easy modern lifestyle has made it less important to punish unmanlike behavior, since men don't really need to work hard or go out and hunt, and as a result more people are choosing to be gay?

if that's true, what's the incentive for being gay rather than straight? is it more stimulating psychologically because it's still kind of wrong/taboo?

There has always been gay people. Lots of them. I think what changed is society is more accepting than ever before. So gays are becoming more public and mainstream without as much fear of being harassed or harmed by haters. If you look at American history over the last 75 years, it hasn't been too friendly towards gays until just recently. This all depends where you live. Some states are VERY welcoming to LGBT, while some states are still living in the biblical dark ages and hate gays or anybody else different from the norm. So if you're living in an area that is heavily anti-gay, it might come as a surprise to see homosexuality being an open topic online and in the media.

Also fun fact... homosexuality exists in other animal species besides humans, and has so since as long as anybody can remember or document.
