Firaga's Note: Shame on me. How could I ever forget this song? This is the song that I have been reunited with after 3 years of oblivion. The melody sang out to me in my mind without even knowing the actual song. The melody captured my soul as if my soul was bound by it, and although unaware of the song name and artist, and furthermore, in the 3rd year I had almost discounted my credibility and almost signed it off as some debris of my imagination. Indeed, I almost thought that this song was not real, but a dream; a manifestation of what my mind wanted to witness and what my ears wanted to hear. It was that 3rd year that I found this song... and when I found it, I have never let go of it. I will remember this song until the death of me, or perhaps, even beyond my death. The song starts slow with almost a blissful tone but as it progresses towards the chorus, the tone becomes chaotic as if the woman has gone crazy and cannot think logically. You are absolutely correct in surmising this; the lyrics are about a woman who has had a change of heart. She thought she could control her emotions, and that she thought she could let him go peacefully and without a problem. However, in the chorus, she tells a tale of how the man was stubborn, yet sweet. What we can refer to as a bittersweet moment, the woman is confused. Unsure of what to do, and most importantly, unsure of her feelings herself, she tells the man that she wishes he was mean to her. As if the laws of physics have been violated and magnetism now underwent attractive and repulsive forces simultaneously... that is what the woman is feeling. She wants to leave, but at the same time she cannot leave. This is not because she feels pity for the man... but rather... pity for herself. This inner conflict continues on and on, until the conclusion of the song... and we will never know what she decided to do... but the enigma of the tale is the central beauty of it. Shame that Korean Pop has diverted from this style of song, and tried to adapt the American music. Personally, I prefer the Korean Pop and Ballads from the 90's.
