Oh, I see. Wood glue doesn't make a strong enough bond by itself to hold something like that together. I had the option of securing from underneath, but the old nailholes from the pallet were already there, so I just put screws in the existing holes to add to the character of it.
I agree, wood filler doesn't look right.

wood glue is quite strong if applied properly and clamps are used. strong enough that it wont ever come apart.

I don't trust it enough to leave it just glued for something this large, especially since it will hold a TV and various other heavy things.

Haven't built a new fire wood rack yet, nor any wall hutches. Good ideas though!

what about a large chest for the end of the bed for large blankets, etc?

yeaa make a treasure chest. fill it with booty.

do a biscuit join with the glue for extra strength.

In the previous thread (linked in first post) I have a storage chest for my front porch that holds many many shoes that don't get worn.

then u have to buy a biscuit joiner. and it wouldn't work for thin soft wood like a pallet boards.
