Well, what you said made more sense. My teacher told me that it was the exact order of PEMDAS. Multiplication before Divide according to my teacher?

then that was dumb of your teacher to say that
The correct order is
terms inside parenthesis
exponents and roots
multiplication and division (Done Left to Right, Even if it's Division before Multiplication)
addition and subtraction (Same ^)
