Rotten Tomatoes has actually, itself, become a piece of shit.
I normally have pretty easy taste when it comes to movies. Im easily enthralled and I really liked that movie.
I think the issue was that with the new stylings of the Joker and adding in all of the "underdog" villians that not a lot of people had heard of, people went in to the movie wanting to dislike it.

go see a movie and make yourself an opinion of it, like critics rate Game of thrones season 5/6 as best, and yet s1-4 were better;

or even the newest Ghostbusters, they rated it as 74+% and yet it was horrible;

There arent many movies that can compare. That movie was a masterpiece. And Jared Leto is a very, very, very different Joker than Heath Ledger. (Personally, I liked Heath better, but Leto brought it full circle to match the mature Joker that the comics portrayed).

But I read that there are apparently so many deleted scenes of the Joker that they could have made the whole movie about him and had a longer finished product than the movie itself.

I think they're planning on making a movie solely about him and Quinn for the fangirls (me) out there, so they cut most of his story.

the movie woulda been fine had the exe let Ayers do his thing, his vision, his movie. Instead they tried to re-edit and the tone/pace of the movie was all over which is sad(cuz panic and I guess they wanted the movie to be sort of like Guardians of the galaxy/Deadpool kinda)
