reparations are unnecessary if you ask me (half black, half white)
the 'vicious cycle' that people insist is a result of slavery doesn't seem very real to me.
the black side of my family lives in philadelphia, chicago, and arkansas. they are all fully functioning normal members of society despite the fact that their ancestors were slaves.
it's hard for me to believe that because someone's ancestors were slaves centuries ago, that they're stuck living in the projects dealing drugs and dropping out of high school, etc.
i don't know many of the 'ignorant black people' that y'all are probably talking about, because all of the black people i know are successful and kind, etc. i know more white people that seem like degenerates.
IN CONCLUSION, i honestly believe that things are perfectly fine right now. there may be racism, etc... but the black side of my family goes to show it's possible to grow up in the inner city and still make something of yourself. all of the black adults in my family have either a bachelor's or master's degree. hell, the white side of my family is more uneducated. it's my stance that the people who get stuck in 'the trap' of dealing drugs, gang violence, etc... would be stuck doing that even if they were white. it's not a race thing, it's a person-by-person thing. violent adults that break laws raise violent children that break laws. that doesn't necessarily come from the fact that their great great (etc)... grandparents were slaves.
