fundamentalism is not a requirement of religion, this is the problem with "devout atheists", they believe nuances don't exist. I literally just said you could be a devout muslim and never even read the quran. You could be a muslim and believe the entire quran is worthless (i know many Christians who think the bible is worthless)

So you believe there is an all powerful figure who decides your fate but you could not give a crap what he thinks and have no intention of reading the only literature about this figure?
Seems like madness.
Anyone who claims to be a christian that says the bible is worthless is not a christian, the bible is the core of the belief system.
That is like being a vegan who only eats meat.

nope, i don't believe anything like that, i just recognize that fundamentalism is not a requirement of religious belief. I am not a gay muslim, so i cannot defend a position i do not hold, all i am doing is pointing out that nuanced positions exist. I can say however, that its not difficult to note that human writings are quite often written by humans, its no leap of imagination in my opinion to assume humans are untrustworthy with the musing of a deity.

"The bible was written by humans, it cannot be trusted, i just know Christ died for my sins"

e: i dont hold that position either, im trying here. the point is these positions exist, you can disagree or call them stupid all you want, most of the time i'd even agree with you but let me say this again:

fundamentalism is not a requirement of religious beleif
