you seem to not be willing or able to separate a job, i.e. some form of habitual labor from an employer, who is specifically someone who has private ownership over the means of production

simply look at a co-op, which isn't hypothetical. there are jobs, and there are no employers; the laborers are cooperative and are not working for one person but for themselves

you're right but most also can't acquire enough capital to become capitalists themselves (assuming they ought to) as they will be forever too busy affording their necessities and what they can save for themselves for emergency

You can keep talking about exceptions to the rule, but 99% of people won't work for a co-op, because there's not many around. Thus, they need an employer.

That's beside the point, but it's another reason that people need an employer.

then i understand what you're saying more clearly: you're making a more specific statement than a general statement as i was

you're saying workers right now in this society need an employer

You said the boss needs you, you don't need them. That seems like a statement on current society. I don't really see a point in commenting on a fictional reality when discussing whether or not employers need employees, and employees need employers.

it wasn't, it was a very general statement about no specific society

it's actually a common phrase used exactly in that sense; your interpretation of it is unfortunate

"fictional" would be an inaccurate word to use, it'd just be one that we aren't currently living in in the west

there is most certainly a point in describing a way for things to be better

because if things could be better, we ought to try to make them so

The most beautiful greeting in the word. A true worker's word.
