Was thinking of getting a black and white Tegu. They're pretty badass and easy to free range.

Yep. Currently building his grown-up cage. Another 2-3 months and he'll be big enough for it :)

Would he eat fruit too?

I'm curious how watermelon or something like that would be..

Nah. Chameleon's are carnivores. They want to eat live food, ie: crickets or meal worms.

I'm gonna start building a custom habit soon. Looking to get 2 panther chameleons. Their colors are just mins blowing!

Panthers are beautiful My favourites are sambava and nosy be. You can't house 2 together though. Check out chameleonforums for a lot of useful info on care etc. Make sure you have everything just right before you get your chams.

Also some will eat fruit and veg. Not always but a lot will nibble at leaves etc as well. You shouldn't feed them mealworms often, if at all, as they find them hard to digest. Silkworms are much better.

Not unless they are very young or the enclosure is very large with enough basking spots and food that they can find their own space. Even then you have to keep an eye on their behaviour. Chams are extremely territorial and the stress of constantly being housed with another cham, or even being able to see another cham if their enclosures are next to each other, can and will often kill them.

Some distinctive patterning coming in :)

His left side is even nicer but it's hard to get him facing that way for some reason.
