and as far as drisophila go, you can see adaptations. small changes. not species changes.

There was no body of evidence supporting it, it was an unknown. When people started collecting data it suggested a round earth etc etc.
And we can speciate drisophila in the lab. As in a separate albeit artificial species which is distinct enough not to be able to reproduce with viable offspring.
Saying adaptation with descent is real but not evolution is just stupid as evolution acts on populations and adaptation leads to that.
Using e coli it can be proven beyond all doubt. We constantly are creating new variations and species to produce products. How exactly can this happen without evolution?
