Buy something that doesn't need gravity

need affordable car that doesn't break down new

Most cars break down from stupid owners who neglect maintenance.
If you want a Chinese piece of shit that you never have to worry about changing the oil in you might as well get super cheapos like Kia and Hyundai

Older Volvo, BMW and Mercedes make 300k+ miles regularly on the original engine and transmission but it requires a modicum of effort.

Honda civic no doubt.
Cheap maintenance, very high reliability.

Get a 2007 sti
That's the desirable chassis since it's smaller and lighter than the new impreza chassis but it has almost identical components.
Those cars will most likely be collectable, especially in the blue variants

2016 subaru impreza (18.2k)
2016 honda civic sedan/coupe (18.6k, 19k)
2016 toyota corolla (17.3k)

2016 mitsubishi lancer (17.5k)
2016 dodge dart (17k)

2016 nissan sentra (16.7k)

subaru/honda/toyota best options because of price:performance ratio, they also have the best parts when it comes to how long they last vs cost to repair/replace
and they're incredibly reliable in general, considering their namesakes (all japanese meaning jdm replacement parts = cheap)

lancers are fun and sporty while also being sedans, pretty good price to start and they come well equipped

i've heard nissan versa's are super cheap but that also means they're likely to break down and feel like shit to drive, so i left the sentra lower on the list

unsure of the dodge dart but dodge is a great brand in general so it's worth looking into.
