You can try to elevate your head a bit higher when you sleep, to prevent the blood from pooling under your eyes.

If you have seasonal allergies, taking medicine for those can help some.

Try taking more vitamins. (mainly vitamin c)

Sleeping too much can cause them, but not sleeping enough can also cause them.
You could also try sleeping with a cold compress over your eyes.

I have the same issue though. I have done all of the above and head elevation + cold compress while sleeping worked best.

I apply a light amount of skin balm w/ sun screen sometimes though when all else fails.

That's a good choice but I prefer to use a milder exfoliant every night. Salicylic acid is very good for exfoliation and the best exfoliating acid in reducing the incidence of acne. Even at 2% I wouldn't use it every day, at least until you build up a tolerance to it - it is one of the harsher exfoliants.

The best acid for exfoliation alone is glycolic acid, it penetrates through the dermis far better than salicyclic or lactic acid. I personally use a daily glycolic exfoliant with microbeads. That being said, I don't have oily skin and I don't get much acne anymore. If you do, then the product you've chosen is optimal.

yeah i read it's pretty harsh and will likely make my skin peel a bit for the first few weeks. i don't have oily skin or acne/pimples but i read this is good for evening out your facial complexion, plus i feel guilty using my current microbead exfoliating face wash.

Wouldn't know, I haven't tried it. As for bags under eyes, you could try reducing salt intake, as (theoretically) more water could be drawn into that region by osmosis. Sleeping on your back is another recommended method, but it's really difficult to do for most people. Personally I doubt these methods would have much of an effect, there probably isn't a lot you can realistically do without surgery.
