Depends on your definition of "driving distance". You're closer to the Appalachians than I am to the Rockies (in MN).

round trip in less than 4-5 hours. that way i could go early spend day there then return at night.

pretty sure the Appalachians are at least 4-6 hours out but not sure... probably closest going southeast?

yeah looked it up and I'd have to go s.e Ohio that'd be quite a drive. Probably 8 and thats cuz im in lower end MI

Scenic places like that shouldn't be planned as a quick day trip. That would make a decent extended weekend trip. I still regret that my only trip to Glacier National Park was a day trip up from Missoula. I could spend a week hiking and exploring that park.

yeah glacier is the bomb. beautiful even tho my visit was rather foggy. still a gorgeous scene.
