Nissans were regarded as some of the worst vehicles on the road by the mechanics who worked there (at least the post-Renault Nissans; earlier ones were ok), while Hondas were generally very problem-free, save for a few common problems that didn't really matter.
The early 00s Altima, for example, had over 100 service bulletins (aka, common problems), where a typical Honda or Subaru might have 20 or so. All Nissans have squeaks and rattles out the ass, which is why they give each dealer a "squeak and rattle kit" in answer to all of the squeaks and rattles that inevitably crop-up when under warranty.
My friend in hs years ago had an altima.... Lol maintenance/repairs were hell
