you can go to a shelter and adopt the largest dog they have. Then you can spend the other $800 on food. A dog of that size will eat more food than you probably imagine as long as he's getting worked out every day.

I have a 123lb German Shepart/Rottie mix that I got from a shelter.

Iv got a argentine mastiff French mastiff cross it's a fucking beast

idk if you could afford a Bernese Mountain Dog on that budget. The only thing that stops me from getting one is that where I live, it's so hot that it'd be an absolute shit show for a dog with this kinda coat:
