I drove into a chevron station hopped outta the car and was about to put my card in the machine...
Suddenly!
A middle eastern dude holding an empty gas canister comes up to me with his kid right next to him.
He starts asking if I could help him out with a bit of gas to get him home.
I flat out asked him... Why are you doing this?
He said he didn't have enough money for gas.
I told him... Don't you have a job.
He said he did but it didn't pay much.
I turned to the kid and asked him when the last time they had fast food was...
The kid said "right before we came here"
I turned to the dad and said this is why you cannot go home. You are horrible at managing money. You should have waited but instead, here you are asking for gas at a station, BEGGING for gas.
I then turned to the kid again and said... You see what your father is doing. DO NOT ever put yourself in the situation he is in now. He is a shitty father and you should be ashamed for him.
The kid said he was and that his dad told him to stand next to him as he asked for gas.
I fucking lost it and started yelling at the dad.
Everyone was staring at me and him and the kid.
What the fuck are you doing begging for gasoline with your son? You're a sad sack of shit fucking loser etc, etc.
This went on for the better part of two minutes.
When I came to, I saw the kid was crying and the dad - being the fucking shameless loser he was - looked like he just wanted to hide under a rock with all the people giving him looks of disgust.
I then turned to the kid one last time and said look at your father.
He is a fucking piece of shit.
Don't ever end up like that pathetic loser.
Work hard and make money to take care of yourself and help others that you care about.
The kid just nodded continuously and stopped crying.
I finnaly put my card in the machine and started filling up and as they walked away I yelled at the dad one last time so everyone could hear... Take care of your son you fucking worthless excuse of a father and stop begging for gasoline.
They hopped in a ~2012 honda oddessey and drove off.
I then heard the click of the pump stopping and I hopped in my care and drove off.
This concludes my gas station encounter of today.
While you shouldn't have used profanity in front of the kid I do think you made some valid points and hopefully the kid doesn't grow up to be like the father.
