If you enjoy using this website, and you have fun on it, how is it any different than going to a movie?
Clearly you're staying inside, but you're still with friends having communication with others.
Fact of the matter is, it's his money, let him spend it in the way that he enjoys most.
Ignorance does nothing for your cause, it's like how some people eat out every day of the week, that makes them happy, so they spend money doing it.
The site satisfies his need for entertainment in some aspects, so he spends money to enhance that, as most people would.

I spend money on the site, work, spend time with my gf, and am perfectly happy with life.
Most people on the site do similiar things.
So refrain from making comments when you know nothing about the subject.
Edit: It's perfectly possible to spend money, and time on this website, and have a lifeoutside of it.
I know most people don't realize this, especially the children that would post theese things in the first place.
Mabye once you're out in the real world you'll see what life is like.
