yes i do make fun of my friends for being men.. you've evidently never heard the joke of the blond, redhead, brunette, and the genie lamp... or any of the other funny ass "men are retarded" jokes...
so, from your stand point, and correct me if im wrong, if someone is different, they should be treated special: given special privileges, spoken to a certain way, given certain courtesies and so on, constantly reminding them that theyre different, so as to not make them feel different?? you are basically saying i shouldnt make fun of my gay friend for being gay or my black friends for being black.. instead i should not make fun of them at all and only make fun of my white friends for being white and male? interesting... if my friends found the jokes i make about them offensive, they wouldnt be my friends now would they? take your double standards and shove them as far up your ass as you can...
Nope, not at all what I'm saying. But jokes about men simply don't have the same edge as jokes against women, because we still live in a society where men are privileged. So even if you think that you're giving the same shit across the board, it's still not true - you're just reinforcing stereotypes that are hurting people on a daily basis.
The fact that you somehow think that I'm saying it's only okay to make fun of white males shows exactly how dumb this all is as a rationalization, because that's not what I'm saying at all. But it shows off how knee-jerk and reactionary you are about these things, and helps to highlight the fact that a lot of this is a reaction to the fact that white boys aren't as privileged as they used to be, so you're using crappy humor as a mask over your actual racist thoughts, because if you just make a joke out of it then you can try to call out other people who get offended as though they have the problem and they're just racist against poor innocent white boys.
It's not about double standards at all. It's about actually recognizing the world as it is. And I'm sure you'll find a reason not to actually reflect on any of this and not to actually reflect on it, but just wave me off as some member of the PC police who isn't worth listening to, or just give the whole thing a "tl;dr." But I hope you at least read it, and that one day you really do give it some thought and really ask yourself what lies underneath all of those jokes.
