Evolution and believing in God do not have to be mutually exclusive. I don't know why people fight about something with so much evidence as evolution.
The only problem is that Einstein wasn't necessarily religious.. And by this I mean that he didn't follow any indoctrinated set of principles as preached by any particular church or scripture.. Namely.. The bible.
His view of god was that of the inexplicable and bewildering aspects of the cosmos and our metaphysical existence. The mysteries of the universe as a whole etc. and not necessarily the colloquial "god" we know of today as defined by religious practices.
This perspective would later be coined "Einsteinian religion".
