I don't "produce" music, I make it. As in, I write songs and then use instruments to record them.

im confused. to produce means pretty much the same thing as to make.

tips for beatmaking

pirate all the loop+one shot packs you can find. pirate good synths. listen to a lot of music and find nice clean samples to lift. get something cheap like an akai mpk mini mk2

never download a "construction kit"

I have loads of packs and have bought a few. that song was actually a challenge I created for myself by using all sounds from one specific beat pack. I think it turned out pretty well. I don't have money to throw at hardware right now so I just use FL Studio 12 and my laptop. I have nexus and sylenth but rarely feel like engineering my own synths. need to get some nexus expansion packs.

can you pm me? not quite sure what kinda pads you're thinking of. like a launchpad? I don't really make that kinda music with one-shot samples, but I'm sure I could find a use for the hardware anyway. any specific tips on the song? learning how to mix & master witg really cheap in ear monitors, but I think a lot could be done in the after production to increase quality

hmm seems interesting. I think my first investment will be some sort of 2-channel turntable because I like making mixes / djing at house parties

nice, that's cool. what instruments do you play? I play the guitar, piano, saxophone & clarinet, and I have experience with drums (band class type stuff) but don't have my own set.

I also produce music though because I enjoy it more than I enjoy playing most of those instruments.

guitar, bass, drums, harmonica, saxophone and some other stuff i hardly use

I like being a one-man band, it allows you to just do what you like at the pace you like.
