Whats The Most Memorable Thing Your Parents Taught - Topic

Yea shit sucks my dad taught me not to rely on people by calling me and saying he would be coming to visit on X day so I would literally go sit on the street corner and wait from the time I woke up tell it got dark out only going home to use the bathroom and grab a sandwich that I would eat as I was running back to the corner to wait for him. He showed up 1 time out of countless times he would call same thing every time fucking story makes me cry to think about. A 7-8 year old kid shouldn't have to walk home crying and ask his mom "why didn't dad show up?" And get a call the next day saying "sorry I didn't make it something came up I promise I'll make it next month"

dear god, reminds me so much of my dad. the reason my parents broke up was exactly this. dad was an unreliable alcoholic who constantly asked mom for money.

neither of my parents knew exactly how to raise a child so i was constantly thrown from one home to another. it was a mess.

I learned from my dad that if you don't think decisions through you end up getting the short end of the stick. That being said, even if you get the short end of the stick you can still make a decent life.

I learned from my mom that no matter what you do people gossip constantly about you no matter how good of a job you do, and people's opinions are very rarely based on results.
