good with your hands?

make one out of 1" and 1.5" common boards, the rough ones cause the finished ones are way too expensive.

can also use fiberboard, though you'd have to fit pieces together differently due to screws not holding firm in fiberboard.

as long as you make the desk stand on the ends of a solid piece of wood, as opposed to 4 or 6 legs, it'd be really easy. drawer sliders for the keyboard or drawers, hinges and magnets for cabinets, all of that is really cheap.

the longest and most tedious part of this would be finishing all the surfaces.
