i wanted to get a .22, but it's so hard to find ammunition. thinking about getting a 9mm, maybe a glock 19. just gotta get off my butt and buy one.

a .22 rifle was my introduction to firearms as a young kid. The ammo was so common and cheap back then, I would go out to the range and shoot all day. Can't believe how expensive and scarce .22 ammo has become.

I find .22 to be readily available again, I even see it at wally world, and they were the last place to get it back again, typically paying about 8-11 cents a round for semi decent bullets (federal match, cci mini mags, aguila super extra). There was a dry spell a year or so ago, but check around, most of the smaller gun shops seem to have it. If you reload, you can get .38 special down to almost the same price as .22's.

With the single shot bolt action (like the pistol I posted) you can really spend some quality time accurately shooting for awhile for minimal cost, I usually go out for a couple hours at a time , sometimes more and chew threw about 100-200 rounds a session.

When I was a kid, .22 was about 3-5 cents a round.
