I think everyone should have to work some sort of retail or service job at some point in their life (preferably early on). Would give people a taste of what it's like.

i used to work on the phoneline for virgin media customer service
the people that were dicks didnt bother me but they got the best service refunds and everything it was policy to keep the customer happy preferably for under £15
so now i use that to get better service
im not personal with them and half the time they agree with me because im blaming the company

I had a customer services job as a student and there was one time when a caller (who was a teacher asking why she hadn't been paid yet for marking) was so rude and condescending to me. I was very calm and didn't react but afterwards I wished that I had. This was a few years ago now

e/ what surprised me most was that it was a teacher. If she was like that to a child of mine, or even somebody else's, I'd verbal her to the ground!

I've worked a few of these jobs and definitely do everything in my power to make sure that people who act like that don't get anything but a fistful of dick.
