Still doesn't make sense. Every square inch of those islands are owned by somebody or preserved by the government. I highly doubt there is any wilderness areas that allow the picking of fruit. Mangos, papayas, and avocados are expensive as you mentioned yourself. If it was legit to take them as you are, there would be none left because everybody else would be doing it. Logic points to something illegal.
