Upgrade to Windows 10. You will not lose any data.

The only problem I have had with Windows 10 is that sometimes the start menu doesn't work.

Vista is popularly regarded as one of the worst versions of Windows ever made. I'm pretty sure anything would be an improvement. I believe windows 10 should run fine on old computers. If your computer was designed for vista, it can surely run windows 10.

check if your pc's hardware can handle win 10
If so upgrade, if not get a new pc
