I'm so incredibly old that I remember being pleasantly surprised that the game was going to be released when I happened to be taking a week's staycation anyway, so I got to spend the first week of the game sitting in my underwear playing over dial up. Wasgd.

Also remember shortly before that, downloading the 100M beta over dial-up over the course of like two straight days, coz 75% of the way through the first download, it froze, and I had to go try again but this time with a download manager that could handle it if the connection broke again.
