It took me a while to realize my old friends and room mates were basically garbage. One ended up losing his job and moving back in with his parents after dropping out of college three times, the other actually got a degree (took him 7 years to get a physics bachelors, but it does say something that he finished it) and moved back home and to my knowledge doesn't have a job. I had to explain to the physics room mate on more than one occasion the difference between a "need" and a "want". He would spend 50$ on some bullshit like a game and say he "needed it" and I would have to explain that he "wanted it", and paying a rent is a "need".

So yeah, now I live with my wife and it's nice not having to hold roommates hands through even the most basic life tasks like paying bills.

They would also complain the sink smelled, and when I finally did the dishes I would point out that leaving a bowl full of milk and piling dishes on top of it meant the milk was going to fucking rot and stink. Finally at the end of the second year I lived with my fiance 95% of the time before we moved in together and got married.

It was kind of funny because once they asked if I thought we would be friends in 10 years.

I had to tell them no, because in 10 years I'm going to have a career and life going for me and you won't, so we won't have anything in common.

It was funny to see their expression

My roomies blow money on a lot of stupid shit for sure, but they always pay their portion of rent and bills on time. I just wish they weren't such fucking slobs. The common areas smell horrible because of them. In the last year they've vacuumed 5-6 times. They leave dishes in the sink for weeks at a time (I do mine right after I'm done eating or drinking). I feel like they're animals that know how to use money.
