As to whether you should get them at 50$ that's up to you.

Could always wait until they're on sale in a year or so.

This is what I do with most games, but Nintendo is pretty smart and gives you chances to catch unique pokemon during the first few months after release by going to like parties at Gamestop or other randhat shit. It seems like a weird game to wait on.

just buy it and have less take away food 3 or 4 times
