In general a phd requires you to show competency in taking on your own project.
To be able to produce original and important ideas in your field is one of the ultimate academic accomplishments.

You can be a prof easily with an mba

hard to become more than an assistant professor with a masters
even associate professors get treated like shit and paid terribly for their expertise, masters degree holders pretty much get robbed.
i taught college with my bachelors degree and was pretty much doing it for free
