Starting off with sarcasm does allow you a lot of leeway for backpedaling, since you can just pretend that we misinterpreted your sarcasm.

There's nothing wrong with this joke, for it is a joke.

I can see why it was super hard to figure out that I was talking about someone trying too hard to be edgy by recycling a 4chan joke when I said that they were trying to be edgy by recycling a 4chan joke. Lots of ambiguity there. I apologize for being so poor at communicating.
