There's a lot of software that isn't compatible with Windows 10 (particularly, many business applications, such as Quickbooks 2014 and earlier). Their deployment model is ludicrous with regards to forced upgrades, where a lot of business computers are being upgraded automatically, despite them running incompatible software. And small businesses shouldn't have to use Enterprise licenses of Windows (instead of Pro) just to avoid the auto-upgrade.

I can get it for businesses for sure, just not for individuals. Like, upgrade your software to something that isn't old and shitty and move on, or go get Linux.

It's not just business applications. There are plenty of consumer applications, as well as hardware that doesn't support 10. I can't tell you the number of times I've encountered older printers that didn't have full driver support for 10 (and not everybody has the money laying around to go buy a new printer, just because their auto-upgraded computer no longer supports the current one).

Well, of course, and I'm glad to see Microsoft following Apple's lead regarding free OS upgrades, but Apple doesn't shove new versions of Mac OS X down your throat. They just offer it in the App Store, and you are free to install or ignore at your leisure.

I do like the clemency for pirates part.

I mean, it's obviously because they can sink their hooks even deeper into you and make even more money off of your personal data, but those are issues of scope, not novelty. :P
