or know anybody that has. Worth it? Costs £1600 per eye

You can sometimes get a discount through insurance. Most insurance considers it a cosmetic therefor no coverage but certain companies will cover 20% or so.

Also idk how old you are but I'd wait till 26 or a few years later. Eyes still changing.

i had it two years ago and several coworkers also had it. it cost me 4k usd to get it done on both eyes.

both my eyes were 20/20 immediately after surgery. now, my left eye is 20/20, but my right eye is now slightly blurry (was wearing -4.25 contacts for each eye). at the moment i can still see fine for most uses, but if i'm reading across distance i have issues. so if there's a meeting at work, i have to sit close to the projector. i got it around 25 years old. i would recommend waiting till you're in your mid / late 20s. get your eyes checked annually. if your eyes stay the same for two years in a row, get lasik. mine were changing around 0.25 per year.

my eyes are dry in the morning so i take drops. i can't have a fan/ac blow in my eyes (like in the car) or it'll dry out, so i have to wear sunglasses. one of my coworkers is perfectly fine without drops. another coworker's eyes are worse; he will wake up several times at night and his eyelids are almost glued shut, so he forces them apart, puts in drops, then goes back to sleep. he takes drops a few times a day.

my halos got a bit worse, but not terrible. here's a picture to demonstrate:

before surgery, i was seeing the top right. now i see the bottom left.

i have mild starbursts. one of my coworkers has severe starbursts and cannot drive at night. the second pic is what car headlights look to him:

for a few weeks after surgery, i also saw black squiggly lines in my vision, but they mostly went away after.
