The books continually remind you that the main character is just an above average wizard, whereas Voldemort is possibly the greatest wizard of all time. Oh duffman...

i was hoping he'd get stronger over time

the blood stuff played a big part in the end along with the wand ownership thing

No it didn't lol. I know Harry Potter has a comprehensive reading level of over 9,000 but c'mon duff. Dumbledore was the wielder of the elder wand, & planed on having it die with him. Coincidentally Draco disarmed him moments before his death, making him the true master of the Elder wand. That is, before Harry disarms Draco in book 7, making him the master of the wand. So, whenever Voldemort tries to kill Harry in their final duel in the great hall, the elder wand refuses to act against its true owner, Harry. Thus rebounding the killing curse back on Voldemort & killing him. ( because they had destroyed the remaining horcruxes)

Duh

Totes would. Neville could easily have been the one the prophecy meant and the whole 'marking him' thing could have about his parents. Or something. It's been a while, but I swear it made sense when I thought it the first time. :P
