Start with Charmander, end with Charizard, Mew, Zapdos, Gyrados, Ninetales, Kabutops
Other choices would be Missingo and Dragonair(looks way cooler than that crappy Dragon Tales looking Dragonite)

chansey for spdef tanking
scizor for phys sweeping
snorlax for wall breaking + late win condition
blastoise for spinning entry hazards and toxic+roar
