guild points are from playing the ladder slasher. you get a GP once you hit 71 and attempt the master quest. failing the master quest results in 1fg. passing, can be 2 or more (depending on which character you pass with)

Some guilds buy GPs and they do that via mediator. (Check the later slasher trading forums section to see more info on that)

that's a lot more useful than the crap every one else was spouting.
