Recently built a new PC, i5-6500, R9 390, 8GB RAM, should be able to handle most games. But I have been out of the loop for nearly 10 years, and the last PC games I played back then were old titles anyway.
Some random games/series that I enjoyed back in the day: Diablo 2, Age of Empires, Age of Wonders, Unreal Tournament, Halo, Hitman, Medieval2:Total War, Stronghold, Quake 1, Doom 2, Duke Nukem 3D, Rollercoaster Tycoon, basically I'm into strategy, FPS, and RPG. Not really interest in racing, sports, or simulators.
Some recent games I've tried and what I thought of them:
Skyrim I've played for a few hours but got bored, it seems slow paced.
Doom 2016 demo - I really liked this, fast paced, old school style singleplayer FPS. Will definitely be buying full version when it's on sale.
War Thunder is really good for a quick game here and there, can be frustrating sometimes but it's free so can't complain.
Path of Exile - as with Skyrim, I played this for a short time and then stopped. It's seems like a nice modern version of D2 but hasn't got the storyline or atmosphere, I'd rather just play D2.
Far Cry 3/4 - had these on PS3 and liked them a lot, wouldn't mind playing through them again on PC because of mouse and keyboard, so anything similar would be goood.
The Last of Us - again a PS3 title but this is one of my all time favourite games, is there anything similar on PC?
Minecraft - was fun for a while, but it as there's no real point to it I eventually got bored. Open world/sandbox games aren't really my thing.
Can anyone recommend anything?
