Posted to the DF but also figured I should post here since I value your opinions too.

So I just picked up a new phone, my first smartphone for me, and I went with the Samsung Galaxy S3 after a bunch of research and I'm very happy with it.

Anyways, I am doing some research on more desirable must-have apps, and trying to make a list of stuff to look at and review for myself. The options are all open, from games, security, file/data management, social media as well as multimedia. I plan on using this phone for just about everything. Games, texting, calls, listening to music, checking the weather and Facebook, and a lot more.

I want your opinions on which Android Apps YOU enjoy, whether it's a game or music player or even something simple like a file manager. I am also very curious as to which security app you guys/gals use, I have heard good things about Avast and currently use their antivirus on my laptop/pc with no issues. Give me some feedback, lets keep this topic rolling!

Help an Android (and smartphone) newbie and give me some tips! I am a fast learner when it comes to technology, but just want what you consider to be great apps to look over. Thank you all in advance!

Electrodroid

I work with a lot of electronics.

The app is free and works well. Resistors info, voltage drops and etc.

Awesome freebie.

: also, ASTRO file manager works well for me.

Iphone is far too restrictive for me, and I've never really enjoyed Apple much at all.

As far as mobile trading apps, that's nothing that is of high importance to me, so iPhone can keep it, although I'm sure Android and other OS' will try to duplicate or mimic it if it has any degree of success. ;)
