How can it be 800 + def if added 40def jewel on 727def base ? Am i missing something here ?

%ed (here, 198%) will also apply to the jewel's defense (which is basically added to the base defense of the shield)

So you say base defense is 244def + 40def from jewel = 288 + 198% = 846 def ??

Hmm im pretty sure the raw +40def ( not 40% ) from a rare jewel comes after the 198%ed , so defense will be 767def .
Only pul rune gives +30% enhanced defense



For example, i have this shako wich have 562def base , socket 2x 29ed/51ar/17def/9dex

you're right, my bad. Integer defense from jewel comes after %ed. Somehow I was convinced it came before
So yeah, max defense on my shield with a 40def jewel will be 767. Still pretty decent I guess!
