well im a level 21 tempest of set on deathwhisper at the moment, so i'll give you my first impressions of the game.

it's got the same typical mmo style things about it(trading, leveling, your community of low-lives, and then the rest of the playerbase who is usually neutral or somewhat nice to you)

The community is hit and miss honestly, you meet some nice people who will just randomly give you gold because they are bored, and then you will meet people who will randomly gank and spawn camp you because they are bored. Pvp systems are a bit lacking at lower levels, from what i've heard and experienced, pre-level 40 pvp is pretty unbalanced and some classes get a way huge advantage and can 1-3 shot you before you can even react, but from what i've heard this evens out at higher levels. Pvp is quite a gankfest right now, the only downside of this game is whenever you see somebody, you normally ahve to kill them, otherwise there is a large chance that they will jump you the next chance that they get, i.e.: when you're half dead fighting a mob. there are no factions like in wow, it is a free for all, and you can group with anybody in your server.

There are a lot of quests to do, but i wouldn't consider it as much gridning as wow, the quests are genuinely interesting and it's not the typical, "kill 7 of these, 6 of these, this boss." or "here is another horribly low droprate quest, have fun" type of quests. the races really have no effect on what your character can do, but certain classes go with certain races, for example the only race that i can be with my ToS is Stygian.

I do not know much about professions as you can't do those until level 40, but i believe there are 5-6 of them, the only downside i see is that once you choose a profession you cannot change it.

if you want more information on the game just wait for somebody who is level 80 to respond and you can also read this

http://aoc.wikia.com/wiki/Age_of_Conan_Wiki

gives more information on the classes, professions, and other things of that nature.

So far I'm really enjoying this game and although it has it's downsides, what game doesn't when it's newly released, it looks as though funcom is working towards fixing them, with the battlesystem that they have in place mixed with the storyline, this game has the potential to go from good to amazing within the next few months, the players just have to give funcom time to implement a lot of the features that they've been talking about.

Thanks for the informative (?) post

I really appreciate when people in general takes time to fill out, even thought you're lacking experience of the wholeness of the game I can tell by your words its a decent game.

I'll read some other posts and wait for a reply from level 80's or somewhat close.
Thanks for the reply, I'll send you some fg's as thanks

I have a level 51 assassin and I LOVE the game, it may not be perfect now but it's getting there.
As of right now some classes are unbalanced but in reality you hear bitching from every class, every one thinks that their class should be buffed and all other classes should be nerfed.
And so far I have yet to find a quest with a horrible drop rate.
The PvP aspect is fun, but right now lvl 80s can go to the lowbie zones and just camp quest givers and spawn points.
The two best aspects of the game so far is the combat and graphics. If you have a good computer, this game is for you.
Every class has it's own fatalities, and they are so bloody and fun when you do one on another player.
If you get into the game join Deathwisper and pm Razzaa. I'll answer your questions and help you out smile.gif

Also a tip, Gank or be ganked. This one time I saw a barbarian grinding doing his own thing (I had the perfect opportunity to gank him) and I just walked on by. Then after he finished his mob he ganked me when I was attacking a mob.

Aoc has good potential to become a great mmorpg.

The biggest problem with the game right now, has to be two things. Hardly any endgame content and alot of bugs. Both of those will get fixed within time. But what you should ask yourself is:
- Are you patient enough to wait for this to get fixed, or are you like alot of people at the AoC forum, complaining all day about the lack of endgame content, or crashing a few times a day?

If so, i'd suggest you wait buying the game, atleast for 2-3 weeks.

About the gank or be ganked part. Sure, it's like that on most servers, but remember, alot of people who bought this game expected it to be aiming for alot of pvpcontent, therefore (this is only a guess, and a guess of my own), they're more or less practicing their pvpskills. You may say it's lame attacking opponents who's having a mob on them, but i'd say this only shows them how the different classes works without having to try them all out. I mean, if a class is at 50% hp, and the mob nearly dead, and you attack him. He might have some sort of heal that's instant and heals him to full hp. You don't know of theese things until someone uses them, and if the dude never reaches ~20% hp, you won't find out.

Then there's always those shitheads spawncamping lowlevel graveyards, but you'll manage to do your quests anyway, and getting away from the level 80's ain't that hard.

As i said, AoC has good potential to become a great mmorpg. It takes alot more skill than alot of other mmorpgs. Especially wow, that alot of people has tried, and alot of people are comparing with aoc. It needs a little rebalance, and it'll become great. AoC could also become a game with big tournaments, as the pvpespect of the game is so good. There's no longer a need to be around the same level as your opponent. Heck, i've even killed a dude 10 levels higher than me. They've got more hp and their combos deals more damage, but it's possible, as there's no such ridiculous thing as miss 95% of your hits, or the opponent resists 95% of your spells, just 'cause he's some levels higher than you.

The community is like any mmorpgcommunity out there, we've got shitheads and we've got nice people.

The quests are allright i guess. But i can't say i enjoy leveling in any game, but it's definitely way more fun than leveling in wow. Also, when you've got a quest, there's an "X" on the map, showing you were to go, to do whatever the quest tells you to do, so you won't have to run around all day, looking for some random mob that you simply can't find, 'cause he's already been killed.

The proffessions that i can remember on top of my head (haven't played for a week) is:
-Architecture (needed to build your guildcity)
-Gemcutter (cuts gems that drops from mobs)
-Armorsmith (makes armors)
-Weaponsmith (makes weapons)
-Alchemist (makes potions)

Yes, you read right about architect and guild city. When a guild got 24+ members, and the guildleader is level 40+, he's able to chose a zone for the guildcity. The guildcity is built with resources that you gather around the world. The guildcities are vital for your proffessions, as you need a hightier city to get the good recipes. This is great, as it doesn't force you to pve 5 hours a day, to get some lousy item that'll never drop. Also, the guilds are able to destroy eachothers cities. Which actually gives people the opportunity to attack some guild they really hate. Also, people have to reconsider acting like total shitheads, as it might end up destroying their own guild city.

sieging other guildcities is very bugged atm tho, but it'll get fixed within time. And when it's all done, i'm pretty sure there'll be some GREAT fights.

So ask yourself, are you patient enough for the game to be fixed, while you're actually paying/playing it? if so, i'd say you should get it. And if you've got any friend who's got the game, ask him for a trial key, as they've released those now
