PoM's have strong DPS in the beginning, comparable with other casters. Their heals at low levels are rather weak, so use potions. At about level 30, their dps starts to drop and heals become stronger.
My suggestion is to play all the classes to lvl 15 and see what you like. If you just do the destiny quest you can get to level 10 in a hour, then kills gorillas an do Achheron Ruins to level up, STAY OUT of White sands and Underhalls if on a pvp server if you are trying to quest.
Keep in mind, certain classes at lower levels do very well and are somewhat overpowered, like a Ranger, but fizzel out in the end. Other classes are very weak starters, won't come into their own until level 60+ but will wreck face !!!
