Allthough many students argue and resist wearing a school uniform to school, I believe it is beneficial for the majority of the students, the school in general and for the wider community. reasons such as cost to parents, students identity, the schools reputation and safety are all important factors and should be discussed below.
Buying clothing has an enormous cost to the buyer. when children are constantly growing it is important to wear clothes that fit I.E clothes that are too tight due to the fast growing rate of a teenager. If everyone wore what they wanted the parents would have pay for the kids to keep up with the latest fashion and those kids who couldnt afford the latest fashion would be teased.
Another good reason to have the school uniform is for safety, Enclosed shoes becaue of glass/sharp objects.
Also in this day and age with the diminishment of the ozone layer it is getting more and more important to wear sun smart clothing which is another good reason the school uniform is in place, Otherwise people would wear things like tank tops and vests that could result in a serious sun burn or even death from skin cancer.
Discipline is another factor students need to get accustomed to wearing a uniform for future jobs when you apply for jobs/actually employed you're expected to dress to a standard if you do not meet this standard you can be fired or not even hired.
Another reason is identification it will be easier to identify if an intruder comes into the school if everyone is in the uniform, If an intruder enters but everyones wearing different things how will we know that theres an intruder.
The schools reputation is another thing to consider so the community can see how our students behave after school and if a whyalla high student goes for a job they can go "Yep, I know whyalla high they're a respectable school the students wear correct uniform and behave well after school"
