Well so far what you are using seems to be ok.
Maybe the armor can be upgraded, I would suggest you try and find a leather or scale armor with some nice dex + good adds on (life steal, extra life, life per kill, strength...)
I wouldn't go for Heavy armor over all, sure it give you a better defense against melee enemies, but there aren't many classes that can wear Heavy armors.
But you are doing pretty good!

I would suggest you browse the market place for a couple of 50%++ enhanced swords/daggers (as you seem to planning to go melee)
The items you are currently saving in your inventory aren't really good, I would suggest you just delete them and try to look on the Market Place for a good low level high dex armor + charm and a good % ee sword/dagger. lvl 5
You'll see that with the more %ee yyou have the faster you go
